WHAT IS A HOME VISIT?

A home visit is an appointment provided when a patient requires podiatry treatment in the comfort of their own home. This service ensures that high-quality podiatry care is delivered directly to patients who may find it difficult or impractical to attend the clinic.

WHO WOULD BENEFIT FROM A HOME VISIT?

Any patient seeking podiatry treatment may request a home visit—no specific clinical condition is required. However, certain individuals may particularly benefit from this service, including:

  • Patients with limited or restricted mobility

  • Individuals without access to transport

  • Bedbound patients

  • Younger patients who respond better to treatment at home

  • Patients who find home-based care more convenient

Oat ClearStep we can also provide treatment in residential and nursing homes, as well as within workplaces. Businesses with staff who spend long periods on their feet may find on-site podiatry particularly beneficial.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A HOME VISIT?

During an initial home visit, the podiatrist will carry out a full assessment of the patient’s needs and concerns. This first appointment is typically longer than a standard clinic visit, as it includes a comprehensive medical history and the details of the patient’s GP.

The podiatrist will bring sterile equipment and conduct treatment in a space within the home that is mutually agreed upon as safe and comfortable for both the patient and clinician.
